Does anyone sail with the forward hatch open.. or is this asking for trouble? On warm, light wind days I might try it...but wonder how other sailors keep the hatch up.IP: 142.177.156.31 |

Can't tack with the forward hatch open. Sheets and jib get all snarled.IP: 64.12.117.21 |

Thanks...I guess that settles that! How about at anchor...will it stay in the open position?IP: 156.34.80.217 |

It tends to blow closed in a strong wind. I suppose it stays open pretty well in light wind. I'm sure you could put a bungee on it easy enough. Come to think of it I always have it open when I am in the boat at the dock and it only occasionally blows closed. IP: 152.163.253.103 |

It would be fairly important to me for it to be open at dock or anchor. I need ventilation and that is one thing I had against the Siren. Too closed up in the cabin. Even in the Mirage 33 i don't like to be below for any period of time. There is an odour that bothers me.IP: 156.34.80.217 |

Shortwave has a forward hatch screen so you can get lots of air but no bugs.D'Arcy IP: 67.68.51.160 |

I've thought about buying the sliding/locking hardware for the hatch, and fixing it on. Perhaps, the springs they sell for galley cabinetry would work also. But, it never quite gets to the top of my priority list EricIP: 130.63.85.93 |
