On my 1979 piper its located on a metal plate attached to the transom in the cockpit just below where your tiller is. I have no embossed numbers on the back of the transom like that of Fred,s model on my registration its 576 same as plate number.Bob [This message has been edited by piper576 (edited July 08, 2004).] IP: 209.226.179.54 |

Out of curiosity I checked my registration. The hull I.D. No. number on the form is the one that is embossed on the back of the transom on the starboard side. eg CLW044267G888. This different than the number on the plate at the rear of the cockpit.Fred IP: 67.70.4.175 |

Well, the hull number on the old registration begins with our Sail number followed by some numbers and letters ending in 81, which is the year the boat was made. We'll look again tomorrow closer at the transom. The metal plate is on the inside under the tiller, but that seems just to have the boat number. keep you posted.IP: 198.115.167.204 |

No idea. My dad gave the boat to me in June 2000. The only thing else I know is that the guy that he bought it from had sailed it in the North Channel of Huron, just to east of me. I intent to go there soon.Fred IP: 67.70.4.175 |

My Sandpiper must be "really old" I do not have a metal plate on the inside of my transom. I've seen them though. Mine simply has "Sandpiper 565, Waterhouse and May, Pickering Ontario, embossed right in the gelcoat, and the recessed letters blackened. I do not have a serial# embossed into the rear starboard transom either. I asked Tom @ CL about it when I first got her(for registration purposes), and he said that the sail # on the early models was the boat#. Sandpiper 565, sail#144. Eric IP: 130.63.85.93 |

Yes, we were told the sail # should account for the number needed. We have the same Waterhouse and May information on a metal plate on the inside of the cockpit with the sail #. We were also informed that boats over twenty years old do not need a title to register them!IP: 129.170.61.173 |
