I have a great friend!! My friend Ken, not Goodings in this case , has a shop in town with a couple of lift trucks. Last fall I went over and we lifted the trailer and all, to remove the keel. I finished work on my keel this spring, and arranged to go to his shop this week and reinstall it. However my wife took my truck for a couple of days (don't ask ). Ken came by this evening, hitched up the boat to his Yukon, we loaded the keel ~grunt~ into the back and went to his shop. About an hour and a half later, we where headed home! It's all good . The keel has had the chips in the trailing edge repaired, two coats of epoxy applied, and two coats of VC17 applied. The screw was also cleaned, and never-siezed! Great stuff that never sieze. The screw cranks like new. It was just begining to show, or feel, signs of dryness last season. Should be good for another 4 years I feel so good right now, having gotten this job done! Paradise can sail again!! Sorry I don't have any pics. My wife has the digital camera too! Just look at the keel removal post for pics. The job was the same, only reverse, and the keel looks better now too Eric[This message has been edited by Eric (edited May 03, 2005).] IP: 206.172.228.77 | |
