This past weekend I stopped by the marina where we will be leaving Barefoot for the summer and forgot that it is not a gated area. Although the cabin will be locked I just realized that the lazarette is not.Can anyone suggest ways of locking it and if possible show pictures of your suggestions? Thanx in advance. Good question! Locking it up keeps honest people honest, you won't keep the bad ones out even if you lock it. Think you keep most everying in the cabin, and then cross your fingers no one in a theif.Sid IP: 207.200.116.203 |

As I recall, 2short had a great post on locking both the lazarette & anchor locker by modifying a garage door latch. Pics included. I actually have that project on my list too!------------------ Kevin Shortstay III, #901 IP: 198.115.167.7 |

Found it! It was in the first thread I started/post I made on this forum in which I inquired about the wisdom of having the battery & gas can together in the lazarette, as well as an automatic bilge pump... Anyway, it was indeed from our former fellow-owner Fred & 2Short. Here's a link & I'll steal some of the pics & post them in this thread too. http://www.vaxxine.com/clsailboats/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000583.html IP: 198.115.167.7 |

The lazarette on Nemo has a keyed through the cover lock at each end. Probably not as secure as the one on the previous link, but it keeps the lazarette shut and curious eyes out. I'll try to get some photos. it would be easy to install if you find the locks. IP: 68.252.125.184 |
