Thanks Stan. I received your e-mail loud & clear. I had to fiddle around a bit to print it out but all is ok now.

Same here. Thanks, Stan.

Belated New Years' greetings to all! Been working at Okemo in VT as ski instructor since mid-Nov & it's hard to keep tabs on the board here from the slopes. Since 12/8, I've only taken 1 day off... gotta make hay when the sun is shining, so to speak.

With Ground Hog's Day behind us, spring can't be too far away. Thinking about sailing has me visiting here. Hope to be here a bit more often henceforth!

Another thanks Stan! Looks great .

Kevin, my family and I are going to be in VT for a ski holiday, in March. Are you near Stow, or Jay?

Our local groundhog, Wiarton Willie saw his shadow, so I guess we'll get an early spring .

Eric

Hi, Eric.

Aaaahhh, Canadian Week! The return of civilization after two crazy Feb vacation weeks of New Yawkers & Connecticutters.

Okemo is considerably south of Jay/Stowe. About 20 miles south of Killington on Rte 100. I love Stowe but don't get up there much. I'm dying to get to Jay & do some tree skiing. Unfortunately, we'll need a couple of good dumpings of natural snow for the glades to be good. They didn't get much out of the last big storm.

Okemo is a wonderful family mountain. Our stock in trade is wide open groomed cruisers. We also have several nice mogul runs with machine seeded bumps. We recently opened a new section, Jackson Gore, which eventually will have some of the most challenging terrain on the mountain. We opened two glades there this season & in the wake of the last storm, we finally opened them & they have been a blast. In a winter like we've had, with cold temps but pretty dry so far, Okemo is one of the best bets around for the best skiing between, say, Mt Snow & Killington. And, of course, we have the best instructors in New England...

Hope the snow gods smile on both of us come March & we have fabulous weather like we've had this week: sunny with temps in low 30s.

There is no way I can take a week off in the middle of the summer to attend. But if I were to fly out, would someone let me crew with them?

I'm is somewhat similar circumstances.
Time isn't the problem though, since I'm retired. Distance towing, care of my 90 yr old mother for 10 or so days, the capability of my 10 year old Voyager mini-van to tow the 4000km round trip... are all factors. The wife may stay home with mom, although I'd have to rent her a vehicle for the duration. Another option was to fly up and try to rent something there for the weekend.
I have a few months to sort it out. I sure don't want to miss the 'historic occasion'.
If I do tow my 'piper up and the wife (crew) stays home I'd be glad for your help sailing.

Just back from Jay!

Friday, February 04 was my dad's 75th. We skiied all morning on the Metro Quad. Then I changed gears and followed my 18 year-old son up and down the mountain.

The conditions were "Ontario" conditions. So, it seems hard to justify the 8 hour drive. But, a bad day on the ski hill is better than . . .
