I have a sandpiper 18.5(565) and would like to use a way of getting the main sail up and down easily the rope on the sail at present does not let the sail drop on its own. I now tha sea sure makes the but cannot find need 30. the nylon prt is 3/4 inch high and 1 inch long and the shoulder tha fits into the mast track is 3/16 inch thick. any adviceIP: 216.46.149.174 |

You may have read my recent post. I had 9 slides (slugs) sewn onto my luff this week. I just got the sail back yesterday and the charge was $ 50.00 + tax. The job was done by Victory Sailmakers, in Dartmouth (Halifax) Nova Scotia. IP: 142.177.32.157 |

Welcome to our e-fleet, william. Here's a link to sail slugs I obtained at West Marine. Hope it helps. Also, was it a typo, or do you really want to install 30 slugs? I think that would be too many by at least a factor of 2x.

Kevin said "Also, was it a typo, or do you really want to install 30 slugs? I think that would be too many by at least a factor of 2x." I'd say more like 3X. I believe the conventional wisdom is...a slug every 18" to 24". Too little and hard to maintain sail shape too many and they bunch up....
