Took both of my sails over to Rob's buddies this afternoon, and who do I meet there...Rob himself. He was getting ready to try a different sail out this weekend on his boat. I asked the sailmaker about the loose foot business, but he didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Said he would assess my main and possibly attach a slide at the clew. He didn't recommend removing the foot bolt rope, as that would create other issues. I left the jib for an assessment also. I was wondering how much streach I have in both sails.[This message has been edited by whited (edited May 13, 2005).] IP: 156.34.82.87 |

Next time I'm visiting my Mom in CT, I'm going to drop off my sails -- or at least my main, which I think is in the most marginal condition -- for evaluation at NorthSails in Milford, CT, my "home port away from home." (I live in VT now.)IP: 198.115.167.220 |

Picked up my sails this afternoon. Sliders all installed on the luff. Asked 'Eric' of Victory how my jib was. He hadn't looked, as his employee had sewn the slugs on the main, but took the jib out and noticed a small rip at the luff. He repaired it no charge and advised me to get UV protection on the leech, as the difference in the material was noticeable on the furling jib. I'll wait for the fall to do that. Total cost for 9 slides...$ 50.00 + HST[This message has been edited by whited (edited June 10, 2005).] IP: 156.34.48.6 |
