"Bump"?? Does that mean the boat is sold or just bringing it to the forefront again?IP: 142.167.224.118 |

Back to top, people generally use bump or "BTT"- back to top. There is interest in the boat, as much as I love it and will miss it when it is gone. I just finishing Chester Race Week and the cruising weekend aspect is what I need. Last weekend we cruised down to the south shore, Rogue's Roost all around there, delivering a larger boat(Niagara 26) to Chester, and we really enjoyed that a lot. ------------------ Rob Belliveau 1976 Sandpiper 565 "CoolBreeze" Halifax NS Dartmouth Yacht Club IP: 24.222.184.133 |

Haven't gotten into Rogue's Roost yet. I wonder what would be the best (shortest distance) launching ramp to use?IP: 142.167.224.118 |

Its about 4-5 hours from DYC depending on wind/current and if you motor sail. Normally winds out of the SW or SSW this time of year, put the whole trip down on your nose. Comimg back is fun. You should do it the first time with someone who knows the area. The ledges outside of Sambro are tricky too. Definately want to study the maps before you go. BUT it is a great spot. There was an article about it in the Herald a couple of days ago, in the living section!!Edit: closest spot, definatly Prospect Bay or Terrence Bay, not sure of any ramps there. ------------------ Rob Belliveau 1976 Sandpiper 565 "CoolBreeze" Halifax NS Dartmouth Yacht Club [This message has been edited by CoolBreeze (edited August 14, 2005).] IP: 24.222.184.133 |

Saw that article. It was written by Richard Perry, who used to be a salesman at the CBC. I've sailed through the narrow inside channel at Sambro a few times but we never did have the time to stop at Rogue's Roost. I wonder if it would be a shorter, calmer trip from the boat launch in Hubbards?IP: 142.167.224.118 |

Rob, some mpressions on the Niagara 26 please. How does it sail? How was the deck for moisture intrusion etc. The 26 is on the rarer side, as far as Hinterhoellers go. Good luck with the Sandpiper. Eric IP: 206.172.228.180 |

Well, The Niagara 26 I was on was mainly used as a race boat. The decks seemed fine. It was my first time sailing it, and I must say, it was a solid boat. It did have new sails on it. It pointed great. Very close hulled, light wind, and she didn't mind it. I wasn't crazy about the way the outboard was designed into the boat. We did have about 12 kts sustained winds towards the end of our trip, we were reaching and the boat loved it. Very little helm (as long as the sails were trimmed properly) and we pulled 6-7 kts easily. Even with the blade we were creating good apparent wind as well. IP: 24.222.184.133 | |
