I have been storing my CL 14 on an old rickety trailer for the last six years (as kids grow up etc.) but now want to get the boat back in the water and get them sailing. Any suggestions from anyone as to a suitable trailer for the 14?IP: 141.129.1.98 |

If I had kept my Cl 14, I had planned to buy a Venture VB-700 http://www.venturetrailers.com/ IP: 142.177.157.29 |

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=5002 I am just getting back to these forums after a few months away, and I thought I'd chime in on this topic. I purchased and assembled the trailer at the link above, and it has been working out *great* so far. HTH, Christy IP: 65.60.136.41 |

Hi Christie.. That model looks like the 1995 made in Taiwan model I bought at Woolco. It was suitable, except the bunks were weak and had to be replaced. Now I wouldn't buy unless the trailer was hot dipped galvanized. (re salt water)IP: 142.177.33.151 |

The trailer I bought from CL Sailboats when I got my boat 2 years ago was manufactured by Marine Cradle Shop 66 Bullock Dr Markham, Ontario L3P 3P2 905 294-3507I have had no problems and regularly launch in salt water. I did take Cody's advice and have them remove one of the springs to soften the ride. He said if I planned on long distance hauling it would put less stress on the hull. Bob IP: 63.206.242.2 |

I have to share with you about salt water and trailers. Unless it's alumminum, or galvanized, I would reccommend the painted steel be at least rustproofed! I happened to go look at another boat [sorry I deviated for a moment ] whose steel, painted, square tubular frame had been subjected to many seasons of salt water. Well it didn't look too bad standing 5 or 6 feet away. When I crawled under, and looked at the running gear, and later rapped on the frame with a hammer, I found the trailer to be totally SHOT! They rust from the inside out! Just my $.02That trailer from Harbourfreight looks to be worth a try! Marine Cradle Shop trailers look to be first rate BTW.
