I am considering selling my much-loved and fully-loaded CL-14 in order to upgrade to a larger boat for next season. Central Air is located in Central Ohio (Columbus), and I see that you are located in Ontario. The trailer is new (2004), and it would certainly be up for the journey. If you are interested in hearing/seeing details, I can provide that to you this week. (If the distance makes it too much of a hassle to discuss further, I completely understand. )Thanks! Hi Don and all!I've never seen nor heard of a 'Piper down in "these parts", so that is probably not a likely or practical option for me. I intend to take my time and find the right boat for me, but some likely candidates might be a Siren-17, Precision-19, or maybe even (gasp - but probably not because it's so BIG) a Catalina-22. My primary criteria - off the top of my head - are: shoal draft and/or swing keel, space for weekending for 2 or so people, and not too tender/likely to be knocked down. (Basically, a 'Piper, right?!! ) Not in a big hurry to either sell or buy, but hopefully will have both transactions completed in early 2006. Was out sailing Central Air today - FUN, but I'm wishing I had thought to apply some sunscreen! Yowch. Christy IP: 65.60.136.41 |

Christy, I can't believe your selling Central Air. Seems like you just now are getting some good sailing time in with her. I just bought a CL14 and am looking forward to many days of sailing. quote: Originally posted by CL14-CentralAir: I am considering selling my much-loved and fully-loaded CL-14 in order to upgrade to a larger boat for next season. just before I bought my 'Piper, I considered a Catalina (Capri) 18. Loved the more open floor area in the cabin. The down side...probably a bit harder to launch/recover from a trailer. http://www.catalina18.net/contact.htm If I planned on joining a yacht club here on the coast and left my boat at a mooring I'd look at this model... http://www.nordicaboats.com/html/nordica-20.html [This message has been edited by whited (edited August 29, 2005).] IP: 142.167.226.95 |

Christy, my dad had a Hunter 18.5, which is very much like a 'Piper. In fact, it's one of the things I like best about Shortstay. She reminds me of sailing with Dad.They were built from '87-'93. It has a shoal draft/bulb keel. A little galley & cooler holder built into the port side of the cabin. A head just before the v-berth. Self-tacking jib too, if I remember right. Here's an extremely useful link to find out more from current owners. Anyway, if you don't have 'Pipers in your neck of the woods, you might have better luck finding a Hunter, as they are all over the US. IP: 198.115.167.14 | |
