Got good news yesterday. The surgeon re-scheduled me for my in-grown toenail operation to Monday Oct 31st...rather than waiting until Dec 12th.
This kills any idea of getting my boat out this fall.
I probably should wash the boat and cover it up by Monday....if it ever dries up here.
Eric...those 3/4" ID PVC conduit pipes you used... did you leave them at their 10' length, or have to fiddle with them.
In other words...how many lengths to make each 'rib'?

Don:

The timing couldn't be worse. I land in Halifax on Thursday Nov.3 and I'm staying for a week .A quick sail in the 'Piper would have been great. OK THAT"S ME BEING ENTIRELY SELFISH. But on the bright side you'll be all fixed up and good to go for next season.

I'd better get some use out of the Piper for next year...or I just might make you a good deal for your Cl 16.

Don:

It's interesting that you make that offer as I just may take you up on it. I am looking to "step-up" and maybe into a Tanzer 26 in the Halifax area.

I'm going to see how interested the wife is next year. She's the main reason I bought the Piper. She had to be far enough above the water that it wouldn't scare her. On the other hand, If I'm daysailing by myself, the CL 16 has to be easier to tow, rig, launch and recover.
I can get my big boat sailing by contacting our old skipper. He was anxious to get the old crew back together on a Bristol 32. I haven't heard from him since I told him I would be an occasional sailor, as I had my own boat. Since he travels a lot, he really wants a reliable 1st mate to look after the boat.
You might be in the same position if you leave a Tanzer 26 on a mooring here...although you have lots of family to help out.

Don, I haven't put Paradise into hibernation yet. This weekend I'll probably get to work on that. I can take better measurements for you. Basically I had to custom fit all the pieces for my frame, and use a heat gun to shape them. These pics may help in the meantime.

While I love Eric's tarp frame, for my part, I've decided to use my boom tent (probably with just the center & edge supports to promote snow slides more readily!) under the tarp. It covers the cockpit adequately & the bow area doesn't get "the sag" as long as I make sure the securing lines are taut.

I'm flying out to Halifax tonight and have plans to check out the Tanzer 26 during my trip.

Robert...there's a Halman 20 listed in the 'Mail Star' too. At $ 7k it sounds reasonable (if in great shape) http://thechronicleherald.ca/searchclass.html
