Reupholstering the cabin cushions. An inside job, as I don't really think I'm interested in freezing out on the boat! Now the spring project list will have several outdoor items. ------------------ Kevin Shortstay III, #901 IP: 198.115.167.17 |

We'll be doing a bit of a hatch repair. We cracked the main hatch top while lowering the mast on one of our cruises.Lynn keeps hinting that some smooth Harken cleats would make tacking much easier. She has problems pulling the jib sheet out of the cleat when it's windy. We'd also like to lead the outhaul and cunningham controls to the cabin top. I like to keep adjusting these as the wind changes. Right now it's hard to do this while sailing. D'Arcy, Shortwave IP: 67.71.55.56 |

Like Sid, I've been a cripple most of the summer...starting with a heel spurr, graduating to a cracked rib, and now on anti-bioptics for my ingrown toe nail. (have an appointment to have it removed for good mid-December) My goals between winter/spring... refinish woodwork and make it 'brightwork' again. extend main halyard/cunningham/main dousing line to cockpit.. buy a marine battery & upgrade lights/wiring try to save enough for new galvanized trailer join local boatclub where I can drysail (either lake or ocean??) ......Hmmmmm...lemme see...Sandpiper work sounds a lot simpler to me now....Rebuild the nav station with a sliding seat Install VHF with remote mic at the wheel Replace hoses to head and holding tank Rebuild head with service kit Install foot pump for vanity sink in head Wire an interface box for mast wiring Remove and inspect 7 chainplates and rebed Finish propane locker door Finish replacment of AC wiring (it's all solid #14 house wire) Insulate icebox Install bigger cooling fan on fridge compressor Install cockpit control lever to actuate cold start button on diesel Move engine control panel into cockpit Install engine raw water strainer Install engine heat exchanger with aux pump Send fuel injectors to diesel shop for service Coach Lynn on getting her Ham Radio ticket, along with several winter dockmates Good news! You no longer need Morse code if you achieve 80% on your exam. Ultimately all planning must degenerate into mere work

Robert... how is Celtic Kiss holding up......all those days with no one to talk to her. With the crappy weather during Thanksgiving Weekend, I suppose you didn't get out for a sail.IP: 142.167.230.201 |

You're right the weather was terrible but " Kiss is bundled up just fine and ready to go at any time. With any luck I may be down again in November for a weekend but I doubt I'll go sailing.I got your message at the Toronto Airport while waiting for a connecting flight back to Calgary but maybe next time I'm in town we can go for a beer. See you've had a few cool nights out there. My oldest son is in Banff looking for a job at a hotel or resort, but seems to be having too good a time with a batch of new buddies from England, Australia, New Zealand etc. He had to get one drunken buddy out of the Bow River at 3 am one morning and kept another from getting charged by an Elk in the early hours. The dummy saw the Elk on a lawn and ran at it. Thank God some local warned them that the bears are agressive this time of year. That should keep them out of the woods. Must be 'city boys'....every one of them.[This message has been edited by whited (edited October 22, 2005).] IP: 142.167.230.201 |

Good news...my son called collect last night. He starts a front desk job at one of the hotels on the 30th. Now, with a little help from dad, he has to support himself till then. Some of his newfound buddies already have jobs and have moved out of the hostel and into 'crew quarters' at various resorts.IP: 142.167.230.201 |

That's Great News. Has he taken the Gondola Ride up Sulpher Mountain yet? It's an experience he'll never forget. Robert

Yes there is. I believe it's the #2 Sulpher Mountain but it's also walking distance from downtown.Robert IP: 142.59.142.144 |

If conditions permit and we have some good ice before the snow hits. I am going to try and set a wind speed record for Lake Scugog (although I don't that any records exist). If we have some good ice I am going to put on my hockey equipment and take out my 9m kite. I have done it a few times, but I don't have a radar gun... if any one has a radar gun and wants to see some serious winter sailing speed. Drop me a line. CheersIP: 199.243.241.138 |

Hey DV: Take a handheld GPS unit with you. I use mine to track my progress when I'm either sailing, jogging or skiing. Robert Celtic Kiss #2120 IP: 142.59.142.144 |
