No boat down here to work on. The sailing classes are cancelled this winter. Charley didn't damage our boats. We have several members with severe damage to their homes and businesses, the Red Cross has cancelled sponsorship of our organization and we lost our liability insurance. The number of snowbirds is reduced drastically in our area. I am looking for a small dinghy to sail but haven't found anythig under 20ft. I will wait until I head north to finish my tarp boom tent for the summer get together. You folks are working on some major projects. Good work and great sailing. Tom I wonder if you can find an agreeable boat owner who needs a crew from time to time. It's a great way to get out on the water without the extra expense of owning two boats.IP: 142.177.33.151 |

The two that I have crewed with have either lost their boats in the Hurricane or not sailing often. I am trying and will hopefully find some sailing. Not to worry I will not loose interest or desire to sail with the hiatus. Tom D. I tried a free demo for kayaking and I plan to try some saltwater kayaking. Keep working on your boats spring is just around the corner. Tom D.IP: 205.188.117.13 |

Tom I'm sorry to read about your dilema. Can you refresh my memory, as to what city/town you are in. There are a ton of sailors I know on another forum, that are in Florida. If you need a sailing fix, I would bet one of them would welcome you along. Like most sailors we know, they're a friendly lot . Food for thought.Eric IP: 130.63.85.93 |

I am in Port Charlotte. Charlotte County on the Gulf coast. The eye of Hurricane Charley went right over the top Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. Several friends rode out the storm. Two of the other three hurricanes also visited to some extent this area with high wind and a lot of rain. Still a lot of roofs and buildings need repairing five months after the storm. We were lucky we lost a lot of shingles and screens but no major structural or water damage. Spring is coming soon Tom D.IP: 64.12.117.13 |

The link at the very bottom illustrates what happens to those folks who think that they live far enough south to escape the wintery blasts. I find that this weather link is quite interesting www.wunderground.com . http://www.wunderground.com/wximage/imagesearch.html?citybox=on&city=Groton&statebox=on&state=CT&submit=go
