The Bay Of Quinte: it's a sailing wonderland.

There has been a suggestion that the fleet launch from Belleville and haul out in Picton. There are plenty of anchorages along the route.

Watch for more.

Thanks for the map.

I agree, the Bay of Quinte could be a good venue for R'08. I once spent a night at the marina in Deseronto. Unless there has been a significant change in the facilities, I do not recommend it as a stop over.

What do you suggest?

It looks great to me! Protected water, but enough water to sail, and it sounds like there will be adequate or better facilities along the way. There should be no trouble pulling in someplace to get gas, or protection if the weather gets nasty. Perfect.

I've delivered several boats through this area. It's spectacular. Ab's idea of a one way cruise could work very well here. It would demonstrate one of the amazing qualities of our intrepid pocket yachts. A cooperative fleet cruise.

If you started in say Bellville, the prevailing winds would allow beautiful reaches and runs towards Picton. I believe Picton has some very nice little restaurants suitable for a group dinner.

We're pumped!

Side note - our 'piper (#905) is from the Belleville area. It's last home was on the south shore of the Bay of Quinte, a mile west of the bridge at Belleville.

The City Of Belleville

Here are a couple of aerial photos of the Belleville waterfront. Does anyone know if there is a boat ramp?

A few other comments:
  • The bridge has more than enough clearance for our 'Piper masts. Boats much bigger than ours sail under the bridge.
  • Victoria Park Harbour does not accept transient boaters. We will need to dock at Meyers Pier Marina or at Morch Marine.

Meyer’s Pier Marina has 18 visitor slips available. Some of their facilities include gas, 2 stroke oil, washrooms, showers, laundry, pump out, charts, power and water at every dock, 24 hour security and ice and canteen on site.
The ramp is good and is connected by a walkway/park to the marina in the bay just to the east side of the marina at the end of George St. It should a great starting point
