When I rolled out of bed this morning and looked at the thermometer, it read -18C
"Gettin out of Dodge" for a bit of winter relief is an awesome thing!
Enjoy the trip.

It was so windy,up to 70 mph gusts,we decided not to put the boat in the water. Hoping if calms down enough to sail today. So far it's not happening. I Kea sign was damaged. Jeep was blown onto its side.

I remember earlier in this thread we were chatting about buoyancy; I think I have stumbled into a possible solution and its pretty cheap as well.
I took a bunch of disposable water bottles, rinsed and dried them, replaced the caps and I am now "storing" them in my bilge!
Just pop the 8" deck plate and drop em in till the bilge is full.
Easily removable if service is needed and they are nice and quiet in there too.
I can reach in and push them out of the way to see if there is ever any water in the bilge.
So far, bone dry. Even after being in the water all summer.
I must have done a pretty good job with my deck fitting and window re-bedding projects.

Given that North Americans throw away literally billions of single-use plastic bottles a year, this seems like a mighty fine idea. Can't think that they'd ever all fail at once.
Cool idea.

We normally don't buy these things, however, my daughter got married a couple of weeks ago and we had lots of guests and lots of traveling to do, so my wife stocked up.
Seeing all those bottles in the recycle bin is what gave me the idea.
I figured even if holed, it would only cut up a few of them.
My bottles are all gone, now I have friends bringing me their empties.
Still a couple more compartments to fill!
I thought about the standard 2 liter bottles, but they are pretty heavy. (Making you proud Sandpaper!)
Besides, in Michigan, they would cost $.10 each!
Woof.

Omg I remember that thread... we were only goof'n off HC, I think pool noodles and ping pong balls also came up.
I think I also suggested inflating a life-raft inside the cabin if you where going down \:D

All bad ideas... really \:\)
