Hi there!
I've owned a CL16 for 2 years and I want to replace every ropes of the boat for the next season.
I think I'm going to use Polyester Double Braided Dacron.
My main question is which diameter and which length?

Here are my guess:
- Mainsheet Diameter 5/16" Length 65'
- Jibsheet Diameter 1/4" Length 66'
- Jib Halyard Diameter 3/16" Length 16'
- Main Halyard Diameter 3/16" Length 25'
- Boomwang Diameter ??? Length ???
- Topping Lift Diameter 1/4" Length ???

I can't access to the boat right now, this is why I need your help!

Thanks in advance!
Paul

Hi Paul. Welcome aboard. It's good to have you here.

There isn't a lot of traffic this time of year, so it's good to get your post.

One detail about halyards, don't forget to double the length: once up the mast and back down to the deck again when there is no sail hoisted. And, don't forget to add enough length to be able to tie a knot at each end.

Good luck with your refit.

Hello Paul, on the specs sheet for the Cl16 in the C&L Boatworks site we find :
Stainless steel fittings, rigging (1/8") and turnbuckles
Quality 3/8" dacron sheets.

As a new owner of an old 83 neglected Cl16, I also need the size and length for each rope found on this stock Cl16. The boat is now resting besides the house under a well tie-wrapped tarp and ... a lot of snow. I did send an email to C&L Boatworks requesting a specs and parts list for the CL16 because I need to find what is missing to operate the main sail and the foils need
to be replaced. Anyway, I hope somebody will get us these infos and maybe a scan of the owner's manual, as it could be usefull.
I have a Mistral 16 that looks a lot like the CL16 but has a centre boom main sheeting system like the newer Cl16 ( if I look at the photos on the CL site. I can take measures of the genoa and main sheets (Mistral) if this can help you as these are stored indoor.

Hello Paul,
it seems ( ref FAQ ) file attachment is turned off for the forum . they dont say if we can transfer a file by using private message or if there is a way to upload a file that can be really usefull for many people.

Hello, back home! i'll be able to think sailboat again \:\)

First, Thank's titpaul , the user guide helps a lot as it identifies the parts and setup for this boat ; looks a lot like my Mistral 16 but there are some differences , so it will be easier to understand what parts are missing and what parts from my boat parts bin I can use .

If the temperature continues to help, maybe you will be able to access your boat and measure all the ropes on your boat, this way you will know exactly what you need as there may be some differences from a Cl16 to another.

Spring is approaching \:\) I hope you'll be able to get on water soon.
