S12 Centennial Stamp
Case [Replace later!]
The fifth
release in the Canadian Stamp Handbook series Canada Post
Cello-Paqs and Souvenir Articles has been released by
the Unitrade Press. This release combines two specialty areas
often overlooked by collectors of Canadian stamps. It provides
a detailed over-view of the Cello-paqs which were a unique, though
short-lived experiment in Canadian postal merchandising, as well
as a new look at the souvenir articles which Canada Post has provided
over the years to promote and enhance the sales of Canadian stamps.
Both sections were prepared by C.F. Black of Charlottetown who has contributed numerous articles to The Canadian Philatelist including A quizzical look at Canada which was published in three parts in 1983-4. The work follows the loose-leaf format of previous handbooks and is printed on quality paper. Information on the technical aspects of the Cello-paqs including printers, papers, gum, perforations and pack inscriptions is given for the regular issues and varieties. The listing of the paqs and their prices is followed by illustrations to clearly depict the representative paqs and varieties enumerated in the listings. The listing of souvenir items, encompassing all items which were issued with genuine postage stamps included and which were available for general sale to the public at large, include not only cards and yearly-sets but also books and novelty items which have often been overlooked by other works. As with the Cello-paqs, prices are included for all items and varieties listed in this section. Illustrations of the main types and varieties of the items found in this area once again follow the detailed listings with their accompanying prices.
Now available, Canada Post Cello-Paqs and Souvenir Articles retails at $6.95 while a matching binder for the series is available for $9.95. All orders for Canadian Stamp Handbooks should be addressed to the publisher:
