S.C. 199 The
Medallion Issue
On July 12, 1932 the Canadian Post Office issued as set of four stamps to mark the occasion of the Imperial Economic Conference being held in Ottawa. The domestic rate 3 cent stamp featured a medallion portrait of King George V along with the inscription "Ottawa Conference 1932". The design proved immensely popular with the public and thus was born a new issue of 6 low-value definitive stamps on December 1, 1932. This stamp issue has been known as the "Medallion issue" ever since.
The
Medallion Issue, King George V, 1932 by Douglas M. Casey starts
with a brief presentation of the technical aspects of the stamps
including design, printers, plates, papers, and perforations .
This information is followed by a comprehensive listing of the
regular stamps and their varieties. A detailed price list accompanies
the main listing. The handbook concludes with a section containing
illustrations of the main varieties of this interesting series
of stamps. The Medallion Issue, George V, 1932 retails
at $6.95 while a matching binder for the series is available for
$9.95. All orders for Canadian Stamp Handbooks should be
