The Small Queens Issue, 1870-1897
by John Hillson.

The sixth release in the Canadian Stamp Handbooks series, The Small Queens, 1870-1897 has recently been published by the Unitrade Press of Toronto. Continuing the loose-leaf, 6"x9" format established for the previous stamp issues, this compact and easily up-dated handbook is a new and necessary additon to the library of any collector or person seriously interested in the Small Queens stamps of Canada.

The handbook has been prepared by N.J.A. Hillson who is known to many collectors of Canadian stamps as the current Treasurer of The Canadian Philatelic Society of Great Britain. In addition to his contributions to that society, he is well-known as the author of the recently published The Small Queens of Canada.

The handbook begins, as in the previous works in this series, with an introduction which details the technical aspects of the stamps, including dates of issue, designs, printers, plates, imprints, gum, papers and imperforates. The detailed listing of the regular stamps and varieties which follows the technical information is based upon and compatible with the information and sequences established in his The Small Queens of Canada. A comprehensive price list for all stamps and varieties listed supplements this section and can easily be up-dated due to the loose-leaf nature of the work. The third and final section of the handbook is a series of illustrations to clearly depict the major varieties of the stamps.

Now available, The Small Queens, 1870-1897 retails for $3.95 while a matching binder for the series is available for $9.95. All orders and enquiries should be addressed to the publisher:
