J.R. Julich
About the Artist

A self-taught artist, Jeannette R. Julich has created a dramatic form of art that manipulates the use of shadow and highlight and their intensity.

This method involves the use of various white and black pencil leads carefully applied onto black paper. With incredible detail her style enables the observer to examine an intense glimpse of nature. She offers a captivating atmosphere and provides us with an appreciation of texture and reality that is seldom captured as effectively by other means. Jeannette achieves the rich visual illusion of three dimensional space and form with this technique while she broadens our communication with the beauty of nature and the spirit of animals. This wildlife art invites the viewer to utilize their emotions and to embrace their imagination.

Jeannette's artwork is a reflection of her fascination with the uniqueness of animals and her desire to concentrate on detail and sunlight effects.

Her desire to draw has always been an important aspect of life for Jeannette. Drawing as a child, studying as a youth, upgrading studies as an adult, volunteering her talents for organizations and working in the art field has helped her to gain experience in many mediums. She is skillful with a variety of media including ink, graphite, watercolor and paints.

Born in New York City to a family of artists & crafts people, she immigrated to Canada, at a young age, with her family to the Niagara Region where she has lived most of her life.

As a freelance artist, Jeannette has illustrated for books, rendered for private commissions, produced murals and set backdrops, worked in the graphics field for business and shows her work in exhibitions. Her illustrations can be found in private collections in both Canada and the USA. Her works have been displayed in a number of galleries as well as in her own studio in Fonthill Ontario.
