As your new President, I am eager to continue along the
path plotted by the Foundation's founders and my predecessors. I want to
particularly recognize the stewardship of Past President Patricia Leece
and express my gratitude for her personal support and encouragement.
As a Foundation,
we are moving forward with Phase III of our Kidz Educational Project. As
well, the Foundation continues to support important research at Toronto
Western and is embarking upon a new partnership with Sick Kids hospital.
There are other
hopeful signs of progress elsewhere. The likes of Colin Mochrie and
Julian Lennon are lending their active and financial support to the
cause. And news from the US regarding the drug Benlysta brings promise.
With the help of
my fellow Board members, our dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers and
Kathy in the office, we will continue to promote out mission in our
shared mission to improve the lives of people living with lupus through
advocacy education, public awareness, support and research. Remember -
anyone can be a lupus advocate.
I look forward to
speaking with the perhaps meeting with you in the future. In the
meantime, feel free to pass along your comments to the Foundation
office.
Kind regards,
Tom Mather
