for The Lupus KIDZ Project
Let me tell you a story ... One day, a mom and her 7 year-old son came into the Lupus office. Mom said, "My son has just been diagnosed with lupus. Do you have any information to explain lupus to him?" We were very sad that we had nothing to help that little boy or his mom. We said, "There must be something out there, somewhere. Surely someone has written a book about lupus for kids." That was the start of the Lupus KIDZ Project. We surfed the net for educational materials for children, youths, or their parents. Most of what we found seemed to be for adults with lupus but sometimes we weren't sure so we ordered the books. Now, we need you to tell us if these books are good tools for young children and adolescents with lupus or their families. The Lupus KIDZ Project is looking for children and youths with lupus and their families to read one of the books in our collection. All you have to do is read the book we send and answer a few questions about it. If you can help, contact Cathy Hayes at lupuskidz@cogeco.ca or leave a message at the Lupus Foundation of Ontario at 905-894-4611 or 1-800-368-8377 (Ontario only). Sample titles: |
