Maple Leaf Marksmen

Winter, 2001/2002 Newsletter

Fellow Shooters:

Another year has come and gone and the board of directors would like to wish you all the best in the year to come.

We have just had our annual general meeting, where we elected our executive for the 2002 season. The club now has full range approval from the CPFO office for the disciplines of shooting we had applied for. I would like to thank all those members who came out to the work parties and made the many trips up the new berm in order to complete it to its present 12' height. A special thanks must also go out to Bob Clendennin for keeping all the help well fed during the work parties (this helped to pack down the berm).

Steve is now taking memberships for the 2002 year, if you haven't rejoined by now please hurry up and do so. I will be sending an up to date membership list to the CPFO office in the near future. If you have not rejoined the club by this time, there is a very good chance that your ATT (carrying permit) will become void. Please see attached notice and CPFO newsletter regarding these matters.

By the time this newsletter arrives, we will have had our annual luncheon at Duffs, to help celebrate the winners of the Polar Bear match, John Kellaway, as well as the winner of the Horn, Brian Hendry (monthly black powder shoots). This luncheon is open to all club members and especially those who come out and participate in these events. With regards to the black powder guys. There is a group of about 5 or 6 shooters who travel around the province and the USA from our club and I can't remember a match that these guys have gone to where one of us hasn't come home with a trophy or two. So for anyone with a black powder gun hidden away or if you have the slightest interest, please come out on the third Saturday of every month and see what it's all about and help make some smoke.

We have been advised by the Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations that we should include a dissolution clause in our club By-Laws. A couple of your executive have found a place for this in the club By-Laws, and have come up with the following change for item # 47. Please note the proposed change will be voted on at the next meeting to be held on February 10, 2002 at 11 a.m. in the clubhouse.

As is:
47. Major Items to be Noted

Please note:
The entire newsletter is well worth reading, just to see what your club executive must go through just to keep up the paperwork involved with the CPFO office. The Following 2 points listed are mainly for those members with club issued ATTs. It is now the responsibility of the members to make sure that these items are taken care of and the proper people are notified of changes.
  1. Authorization to Transport (ATT) page #5 Important Notice.

  2. ATT general information page #7 parts 3 & 4 (members in good standing must have paid their annual membership dues prior to the date stated by the club).
The executive has opted to issue ATTs for a three-year period. In order for your ATTs to remain valid, you must keep up your yearly membership. Failure to do so will cause your ATT to become invalid and you will have to rejoin the club as a new member and take the courses / tests set out in the club rules and regulations.

Your club executive works hard to keep up with all the ongoing changes. Please help them out by maintaining your membership and keeping us informed of all the required changes.

Yours In Shooting
