Maple Leaf Marksmen

October, 2003 Newsletter

Dear club members:
It has been a long time since our last newsletter, and as a result this package contains a great deal of important information for you to review. You will find that we are now collecting money for the 2004 membership year and that the cost of membership has gone up. This was the direct result of having to get our shooting insurance through the C.S.S.A. All of our members will now be members of the C.S.S.A. and this cost is included in the club fee. This means that in effect your executive and board of directors have reduced the cost of your membership. All those members that already are members of the C.S.S.A. should send in their membership number along with their club dues so that the club can cross reference this with a master list from the C.S.S.A. If any members have a life membership with the C.S.S.A. please let Steve Turner know this when you send in your dues.

A reminder to all that the Turkey shoot dates are October 19 and 26, 2003. As always, we need club members to come out and help to supervise the line on both Sundays if possible. We have been saying for years that if all of our members came out to this event even for one of the days it would be the best turn out of membership we would ever have had.

Please remember to check the bulletin board and calendar in the club house for monthly events. We will also be staring the Thursday night pistol shoots as of the second week in October. All club members are invited to dust off their handguns and come out for some good clean fun.

The club would like to congratulate Dan Everett on the five medals he won at the U.S. black powder nationals this year.

You will find that the new club safety rules and regulations (revised Oct.2003) are enclosed as part of the newsletter. Each member must read them and then fill in the signature page and witness it. You can return this signed page along with your club dues.

Norm Botts would like to remind all members with a carry permit that we will need to renew our carry permits this year. Members with ATT's can fill out the form available at the club.

I called the C.F.C. office to get a renewal form for a P.A.L. and just received a letter stating that the forms are out of print and are back ordered. Please check when your P.A.L./P.O.L. expires and call for a form. When you get the letter stating that the forms are out of print file this in case your P.A. L. expires so that you have proof that you attempted to renew in a timely manner.

Any members who would Eke to go to the Stick to your guns dinner in Toronto on October 18, please see Bob Clendennin for tickets. The cost is $20.00 per ticket.

The executive hopes to see a of the members at the Turkey shoots and at the A.G.M. in December.
