NDA Webmaster's Note:

After trying for several days to contact Toby Barrett's office, I visited my local MPP (Tim Hudak) and asked his office to refer two simple questions to Mr. Barrett.

Q1- How long must an artifact or shipwreck be abandoned before it is considered a heritage site?

A1- For the purpose of the Bill, they are using the definition in the Public Land Act which is three months.

Q2-Under the new Bill13, will all shipwrecks be divable or will some be restricted?

A2-All commonly dived sites that are stripped of artifacts would continue to be open, but any sites that had significant artifacts remaining and all new sites would be closed.

One of the most vague parts of the Bill, which could also be the most damaging is section 4.(1) 7. Any other activity specified in regulation. I have since asked (through my own MPP) for a copy of these proposed regulations . I have been told that they are as yet not available.
