Through Undersea Research Associates, founded to present the
Great Lakes community with an electronically sophisticated means of underwater
search and survey for archeological and commercial purposes, he presents
visual underwater time capsules of marine history. Utilizing state-of-the-art
side scan sonar, with outstanding skilled operators, the organization offers
high resolution bottom profiling at depths to 1,000 feet, underwater site
survey and underwater photographic documentation.
On August 20, 1888, the 142' schooner Arcturus slid beneath the waves
to join those that came before her and the others that were to follow.....in
"shipwreck alley" of Lake Huron. Built in 1853, she was to serve
for 35 years while becoming known as a "coffin ship" to her Master, Captain
John Price, and those that sailed her into oblivion on that fateful August
evening. Her dive into history has preserved an intact two-
masted schooner with masts and rigging standing 113 years later, wheel
in place and a huge cache of crocks and dishes in her cabin area.
Share the excitement of this deep water discovery and the exploration of
a virgin shipwreck in the Great Lakes!
