Looking for a unique gift for someone? We have received a call from somebody who wants to pay for someone's registration to the Convention as a Christmas gift.

Contact Ron Palmere if you are interested. This may be a unique opportunity to remember that special someone who can't afford a great weekend with photographers.

Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man. ~ Edward Steichen

Featuring

Keynote Speaker will be Gil Lopez-Espina whose fee will be sponsored in full by Nikon Inc. The title of his presentation is, "Proceed without Caution." He will cover all facets of our beautiful world, while highlighting the remarkable possibilities now available to any photographer willing to venture onto roads never traveled. His program is a truly diversified audiovisual portfolio of magnificent birds and mammals, breathtaking landscapes and seascapes, magical close-ups and patterns, plus much more. The presentation also cultivates an underlining objective to show nature photographers how they could introduce imagination into their work via digital processes. His website is www.fototreks.com

Gil has supplied us with a wealth of material about both himself and his presentation — you can enjoy it here.

Gil's fee for the convention is sponsored in full by Nikon Inc.

There will be a full day presentation by Monte Zucker for professional and advanced amateur photographers. His fee will be sponsored in full by Canon, USA. Monte's images are simple, direct, and emotional. Each of them makes a simple statement. There is nothing in his photographs, except what should be there. All distractions were removed before he snapped the shutter. What you see is what he wants you to see. This is a rare opportunity to learn from the master. His website is www.montezucker.com

Monte has much more about himself here.

Diane Kelsay & Bob Harvey

Drama – Bringing it home in your images

As Photographers, we travel all around the world to put great scenes in front of our lenses. We get up early, stay up late, endure wild storms, and half freeze to death, all to be there for the most dramatic light. But, are we prepared to wrest control from all the bells and whistles built into our cameras to make the best exposure when we finally get to a great place in dramatic light? Whether you work in film or digital media, there is an art to reading dramatic light – and an even greater art to understanding how that light will perform in the image you are making. Bob and Diane specialize in capturing mood and drama in their photography – not just the subject – and they plan to show you how to master dramatic light and compose images that really capture the moment you work so hard to be there for.

Ethan Meleg ... Life on the Edge:
Ontario's Bruce Peninsula

Spectacular scenery and a high natural diversity make the Bruce Peninsula a nature lovers dream! The rugged eastern shore of the peninsula is rimmed by the towering cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment, which plunge into the Caribbean-blue waters of Georgian Bay. Expansive forests, wetlands, shorelines and rare alvars form a wild mosaic, which is home to black bears, delicate orchids and hundreds of bird species. In this program, Ethan Meleg will share his favourite images and adventures from the Bruce Peninsula, his home for the past seven years.

“Searching The World For Compelling Images”
An inspiring exercise in Visual Literacy

This program is about fine art photography that can be applied to both film and digital photography. It offers insight into the creative process of photographer and poet. For this book, they have joined their separate creative efforts into a single work, “Music for the Eyes”. The title pays homage to Ansel Adams, who often compared making a negative to writing a musical score, and the making of a print to the performance of that music.

Robert also credits his RIT professor, Minor White, who inspired the quest for non-literal photography among his fine arts students.

Robert will project many of the images from the book with some before and after comparisons to give you a behind-the-scenes view of the creative and technical choices he faced in producing this very high quality book.

Student level for this is for Novice to Advanced.

I would like to make my book “Music For The Eyes” available for sale to students at a substantially discounted price.

Bogdan Fundalinski

For over 10 years, Bogdan has been using Adobe Photoshop to create Photographic Science Fantasy for his clients through the use of digital compositing. He will share many of his innovative techniques used for his award-winning digital photographs. Covered will be the use of masking techniques for layers, layer styles, adjustment layers and alpha channels.

Powerful tools such as the patch tool and the healing brush will be elaborated. Several unusual photographic retouching techniques will be covered, such as using the history brush to extract a subject from a background, and the use of liquefying for tummy tucks. Placing real butterfly wings on “child fairies”, creating clusters of stars, or adding plants and butterflies to an ordinary scene will be fully explained. A PowerPoint presentation will also be given as part of the presentation.
