St. Giles was the patron saint of travellers, blacksmiths
and nursing mothers. His churches were often at a Crossroads
so that people could come and enjoy God's hospitality and
be refreshed for their journey. Our congregation is at the
corner of Linwell Rd. and Howard Ave. in St. Catharines
Ontario and we hope that you will feel free to come and
share in worship, or fellowship with us, as God leads you.
We tend to be a more open progressive Presbyterian church
in our approach to things. We try to offer a variety of
programs for all age groups and have a busy congregational
schedule.
| As you can see from our vision statement, we want to help
each person be more in touch with God's real presence in our
lives. We seek to learn how to truly enjoy His love and many
blessings. We also want to learn how to Serve Him according
to His call for each of us. If you would like to visit, or
to join with others, who are seeking to put real flesh on
the bones of faith, we welcome you to our midst. If you want
to come and just spend some time with God and be renewed in
soul or spirit we offer our sanctuary as a place for quiet
prayer. Our sanctuary is graced by a beautiful large stained
glass window at the front. It is
the first church window ever to be lit by fiber optics and
there are other unique technical aspects to appreciate as
well. We have a brochure on site. It portrays the "Peace
of Christ" that is being offered to all people. We hope
that you will enjoy His peace and blessings always. | Rev. Tijs Theijsmeijer, St. Giles Minister since 1991. |
If you would prefer an outdoor setting, and the weather
is hospitable, you might want to spend a few moments in
our outdoor meditation garden on the east side of the church.
This is a small sacred space with indigenous natural plants
that attract butterflies and speak of God's love for all
of His creation with their diverse colours. It has benches
for seating and an ancient Labyrinth for walking on. The
Labyrinth is an old spiritual meditation tool to help you
find focus and direction for your life. We are air-conditioned
for the summer months so that the hot St. Catharines summers
will not be a deterrent to worship. We do offer a coffee
hour and fellowship time after worship and cordially invite
you to attend.
