Household Hazardous Waste Day: Saturday, April 12, 2008 (9am-noon).  We will collect your hazardous waste at the church and deliver it to Niagara Region depot.
Acceptable materials:

  • batteries of all types
  • left-over corrosive cleaners
  • pesticides and herbicides
  • gasoline and motor oil
  • solvents and thinners
  • pharmaceuticals
  • paint
  • aerosol cans that are not empty
  • BBQ tanks
No:
  • shingles
  • normal recyclable material
We will collect hazardous waste in the St. Giles parking lot from 9am till noon and then deliver it to Regional Headquarters.

Purpose:

a) to educate the congregation about how to be good stewards / caretakers of God's creation, at St. Giles, at home, at work, anywhere
b) to raise awareness and promote positive action on world environmental issues

Activities:

a) monthly meetings with discussion and learning time
b) creation of educational flyers on environmental issues
c) care of the Meditation Garden
d) promotion of recycling at St. Giles
e) holding Household Hazardous Waste collection for members
