The Welcome Garden has been completed and adds to the look of the church. A big "thank you!" to the workers and the donors who made it possible. It is planned to be low maintenance, with a weed barrier and lots of mulch and the plants should not become overgrown.

  1. to educate the congregation about how to be good stewards / caretakers of God's creation, at St. Giles, at home, at work, anywhere
  2. to raise awareness and promote positive action on world environmental issues

Activities

  1. monthly meetings with discussion and learning time
  2. creation of educational flyers on environmental issues
  3. care of the Meditation Garden
  4. promotion of recycling at St. Giles
  5. holding Household Hazardous Waste collection for members

Tips to Lower Your Bill and Reduce Global Warming:

  • Use LED decorative lights and put them on a timer
  • Put your thermostat on a timer to lower it at night or when no one is home
  • Turn off lights when the room is empty
  • Turn off your computer when not in use
  • Keep your water heater at 45°C and insulate the hot water pipes
