Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is such a powerful reminder for so many people. It makes us think of sacrifice and loss. But it also makes us think of those who were willing to die for another, who were willing to give up their lives for freedom. Remembrance Day is not just about war - it is about love for others.

That's what Jesus Christ is about too. He was the Lord of all the universe and the Bible says the world was created through Him. Yet He took the form of a human being and was born as one of us. His love didn't stop there. He went to the cross and died in our place. Our sin cut us off from God but Jesus provided the means by which we could be forgiven and made right with God. He sacrificed Himself so we could be saved. He lost His life so we could have life.

Jesus said, "No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13). Jesus willingly died on the cross for our benefit. He laid down His life for any who want to be His friends. All we have to do to have a relationship with Jesus is to invite Him into our hearts, to acknowledge that He died for us and was raised from the dead, to ask Him to forgive our sins.

As we think about Remembrance Day and the sacrifice of others for our freedom, let's also remember the sacrifice of Jesus. Let's remember what He gave up for our freedom from sin. Make that sacrifice count by asking Him into your life today.
