Jesus In Your Life
"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me." -- Matthew 10:40

Open the doors to new people.
Understand that not everyone thinks the way you do.
Take time to greet a new face in the congregation.
Remember that God loves us all.
Everyone is welcome in Gods House.
Always try to encourage former worshippers to comeback.
Come into Gods House with love and hope in your heart.
Help others to know the God you know and love.
Outreach has tried to encourage members of the congregation to submit Faith stories to be included on the St.Giles website. We have received some but would love to have many more. We know that many of you have had significant events in your life which have led you to the church or kept you in the church. We know there have been times in your life when only the presence of God has made it possible for you to carry on. We know there are times when your faith has been tested.
Perhaps some the following questions will help you to get started:
What involvement did you have in the church when you were young?
When did you know in your heart that there really was a God?
How has God helped you in your life?
When has your faith been tested?
How did you react when your faith was tested?
Do you still believe in God? Why or why not?
If you wish, we will submit these with first names only.

Our Ministry
Have you...
spoken to a stranger who is sitting beside you?
invited someone who does not usually stay for coffee to accompany you downstairs?
phoned someone who hasn't been out to services for a while?
Our ministry is mapping out the direction we will take throughout this year. Outreach sends welcome cards to newcomers, we have handed out Peace candles to visitors and we continue to seek out the new faces in our midst to make them feel welcome here. We would like to do more personal home visitations to newcomers and invite anyone interested in being part of a visitation team to contact the Outreach ministry. Flyers are distributed quarterly to the St.Giles neighbourhood, to areas in Port Dalhousie and to members who have not been attending regularly. The flyers include information about the church, ongoing events for various ages especially children and upcoming events for the next three months.
The biggest "thanks" goes to all of you who have made St.Giles your church home. We are so happy you are a part of this congregation. We invite anyone who has not yet been to St.Giles to join us for Sunday services. ^ top
A Prayer For The People (Updated: April 8, 2008)
Dear Lord
Our most gracious God and heavenly Father.
We come before you on this day to Honour you and to Praise You.
We give thanks to You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who was born a holy birth, who died on the cross for our sins and who rose again to be in Heaven with You.
We give thanks for Your many blessings upon us and for the privilege of being together in your house.
We know we are always welcome here and we give thanks for the opportunity to come before you, just as we are, and to realize that you accept us and love us.
We give thanks for the bible and its many lessons, which help us to live our lives the way you would want us to. We know that you are already aware of our needs before we ask.
We pray that you continue to watch over us and our loved ones and we know that all that happens in our lives is because of the plan you have for us. Help us to accept all things; knowing it is your will..
Heavenly Father, be with those who have encountered problems during this week. Help them to accept and deal with these challenges in a positive way, never forgetting that you are always present.
Somewhere someone is suffering with a severe illness….we pray for Your loving care and healing hands to be upon them and for your guidance for those treating them.
Somewhere someone is grieving the loss of a dear friend or loved one …we pray that You will let them know that You are with them and will comfort them during this difficult time.
Somewhere someone is having financial difficulties…we pray that You will direct them and enable them to improve their situation.
Somewhere someone is hungry and afraid….we pray for Your loving hands to be upon them and that You provide for their needs.
Somewhere someone is suffering from political oppression – we pray for them during the challenges they face.
Somewhere someone has not accepted You and Your son, Jesus Christ, into their life…we pray that they will become aware, just as we are, of the peace and comfort that comes into a life when that life is given to God.
Dear God, we pray for the young men and women in our armed forces throughout the world who are striving to bring and maintain peace for oppressed people. Keep them safe from harm and strong in their commitments. Give strength and comfort to the families of those who are serving far from home and to those who have lost loved ones who were performing their duties..
Father, we ask that you guide those who have special duties in our church, in our city, in our country and in countries throughout the world. Make them aware of the needs of the people whom they serve and help them to make decisions which will be peaceful, and beneficial to all.
Give us the wisdom to always do what we know is the right thing to do and the strength to live with our choices.
We ask for your loving care for the members of St.Giles who are in hospital or convalescing at home and for those who are shut-ins. We pray that you give healing strength to all. May they be assured that they are valued, loved and missed by all of us here.
We give thanks for all you do for us each day and give praise to you as we pray the prayer you have given to us
Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil
For Thine is the Kingdom
The power and the glory
For ever and ever
Amen
