Information for prospective league members

Ah.. you've come this far. Welcome. Here is some additional information to help you decide whether or not the WNYSOMBL is right for you.

- The league plays scheduled, weekly, FACE-To-FACE Strat-o-Matic baseball only. No computer. No HAL.

- An effort is made (although it is not required) to play the series on Wednesday evenings. We try to have a common play-site for as many series as are able to make it.

- The league season runs from early September to March/April each year.

- All current and prospective managers meet in August to discuss rule changes etc.

- The draft is held in early September and will take 6 to 8 hours.

- You are expected to supply your own cards.

- The draft is a scratch draft - no players are protected.

- The league (in general) follows Strat's rules. Take a look at the online version of our rules for a better understanding of our league specific rules.

- Most of the current league members live in or near Buffalo, New York. One lives in Southern Ontario and usually makes the trip to Buffalo to play his weekly series. On occasion, a friendly Buffalonian will make the trip to St. Catharines to play.

What the league is looking for in a prospective new manager.

- A commitment to play your scheduled weekly series.

- A commitment to meet our series result and statistical reporting requirements.

- A commitment to respond to league communications in a timely manner (usually via e-mail).

- A commitment to have fun (it's just a game!).
