Graphical Counters
at Vaxxine
In
addition to our EHTML
Counters that are available on the system, Vaxxine users may add a Graphical Counter
to their web page, such as:
You
Are Visitor Number:
To add a counter to your
site, simply select the HTML code below, and insert it into the source code of your Web Page. You will then have to modify
the code appropriately as per the instructions below. Note that once inserted, the counter code must appear all on one line.
The only part of the above code that you MUST change,
is the df=filename.dat section. Changes to other variables are optional. Here is
an explanation of what the above variables represent:
-
md
is the maximum number of digits that are displayed in the
counter. Use a value between 5 and 9.
-
dd
represents the style of your counter. Your choices
are A-E.
A
B
C
D
E
-
st
represents the value that you would like your counter to start
at. Once the data file is created, this variable is ignored
(starting number must be greater than zero).
-
df
is the name of your datafile. Although you can choose
any name that you would like, Vaxxine recommends that you
follow this basic format: For your first counter, use
yourusername.dat, 2nd counter, yourusername2.dat, etc, etc.
If we note that counters are being added to the system and
you are not using this format, we may delete the data file
and remove your counter without prior notice.
If you
pick a counter name and add the counter to your Web Site and notice
that the value is NOT what you had entered into
the st variable, you may have picked a counter
name that already exists. Make sure to follow the guidelines
above and this should not happen.
Once a
counter is created, please do not ask to have
the value of the counter adjusted.
There
is currently no limit to the number of Graphical Counters that
you can request for your Web Pages. The system will automatically
remove counters that are not updated after 90 days as they are
considered stale.
NOTE:
We cannot provide additional support on the use of this
CGI. Please do not E-Mail for help on adding the HTML code to
your Web Page. Vaxxine did not write this CGI and is not
able to provide any guarantees regarding its performance.
Counters
used on proxied Web Pages: If you want to use a Graphical
Counter on a proxied Web Page (www.yourdomain.com ), you
MUST send a note to the Web
Master noting that you have added a graphical counter and
give the name of your domain for your counter to work.
