"What is FormMail, and how does it affect my Web site?"
FormMail is an outdated Script still used by some Web Designers to handle the
processing of web site forms, and for sending their form submissions by email.
Serious security problems have been identified with the FormMail Script that
may affect your web site, and it is recommended that you upgrade as soon
as possible.
Running scripts on Vaxxine's servers which have known security holes, and
could possibly be used as an open spam relay, or otherwise compromise our servers
in any way has always been against our Acceptable
Usage Policy. In order to
ensure the integrity of our services, we have no choice but to crack down
on these long-outdated and buggy Scripts. Therefore, effective
immediately, it is not permissible to
install/run the FormMail Script on Vaxxine's servers.
This protects you!
If we don't kill these scripts pronto, your domain
and our mail server may get blacklisted. And once that happens,
it is VERY hard to get off those lists. Being blacklisted means that anyone
trying to send email from another network to your domain, will fail and bounce
back to them with an error. The result would be that your email will be broken,
not just your web site.
Are you running FormMail on your web site?
Not sure if your web site uses FormMail? Please contact
your Web Designer as soon as possible and ask. If your web site uses FormMail, and it has been
shut down (if not, it will be soon), you will need to have your Web Designer
upgrade your Script to one
that is more secure. Don't have a Web Designer? Vaxxine offers professional Web Development services at reasonable rates.
