The following I believe provides some insight into much of what the Christian Faith is about. I know it is a comfort for me to believe this.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times of my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During the times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

See how nature — trees, flowers, grass — grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and sun, how they move in silence ... the more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life. We need silence to be able to touch souls. The essential thing is not what we say, but what God says to us and through us. All our words will
be useless unless they come from within — words which do not give the light of Christ increase the darkness. - Mother Teresa

The Church School teacher had finished a lesson on the Prodigal Son, and had emphasized how happy the father was that the wandering son had come home. But she added, "There was one who was not happy about it at all. Can anyone tell me?"
"Yes," said a young boy. "It was the fatted calf!"

The pastor invited the children to come forward for the children’s sermon. After they had seated themselves on the chancel steps, he announced he was going to talk about frogs. He asked the group, "When I say frog, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?" Promptly a child answered, "God." Surprised, the pastor
asked with obvious puzzlement, "Why do you think about God when I say frog?" The child replied, "Cause I know you didn’t bring us down here to talk about frogs."

Your true religion is the life you live, not the creed you profess. Authur Unknown.
Prayer is so simple
It is like quietly opening a door And slipping into the very presence of God: There is the stillness
To listen to His voice: Perhaps to petition, Or only to listen. It matters not; Just to be there, In His presence, Is prayer.
And finally, I believe the following prayer to be an acceptable way to set your goals for life:
A Prayer
"Duty Is Ours – Events Belong To God"
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
