Humanist Weddings

Your wedding is one of the most special and significant ceremonies in your life. A secular ceremony can be just as meaningful and dignified as a religious one. Your commitment to each other does not have to involve words and rituals that you do not really believe.

Your secular wedding can take place in your own home or garden, a rented hall or room such as at a golf club or hotel, or in a public park or other special outdoor place. I will encourage you to have as much input as possible in your ceremony and other aspects of your special day. A typical wedding ceremony might follow an overall plan such as:

                      Opening Words and Introduction
                      Declaration of Intentions
                      Acknowledgement of the Gathered Company
                      Readings
                      Exchange of Vows
                      Exchange of Rings
Signing of the Register and License
                      Pronouncement
                      Closing Words

The elements highlighted in bold are required by the Province of Ontario to be part of the ceremony. The other parts may be omitted or expanded upon, or other elements may be introduced into the ceremony if you wish. I am able to provide you with an outline of several sample ceremonies which you may choose and change according to your wishes.
