Small Business - how to organize and manage for growth, control and eventual retirement

Small businesses generally run into trouble once they have grown to a sustaining level of sales, but continued growth is elusive due to internal problems that manifest themselves in terms of declining profit margins and employee moral. An evaluation of direction, scope and control mechanisms reveals that most company in this position have reached a level of maturity that requires a new market evaluation, possibly an organization restructure and a higher level of analytical control.

I have worked as a business development consultant for over 10 years for a variety of companies and organizations including many in steel, plastics, garments, tableware and the food industries. For eight years I was with Touche Ross & Partners ( Deloitte Touche ), and I held senior marketing or business development positions for over four years with each of Esso Chemical (Imperial Oil Limited) and Tecsyn International Inc.
