Small businesses generally run into trouble once they have grown to a sustaining level of sales, but continued growth is elusive due to internal problems that manifest themselves in terms of declining profit margins and employee moral. I have worked as a business development consultant for over 10 years for a variety of companies and organizations including many in steel, plastics, garments, tableware and the food industries. For eight years I was with Touche Ross & Partners ( Deloitte Touche ), and I held senior marketing or business development positions for over four years with each of Esso Chemical (Imperial Oil Limited) and Tecsyn International Inc.
